2009 New Releases In Metal

Looking back to everything that came out, this has been an amazing year for metal releases. We’ve seen some great albums come out from bands we’ve followed for years and the resurrection of other metal bands that we otherwise though we though would never put out anything better than their last. With the new year rolling in we can expect nothing but another great year in Metal. As Dan pointed out, Lamb Of God, Cattle Decapitation, Deadlock and Too Pure To Die are all set for a new record in 2009. I’ve been doing a little more searching and this is what we can expect in ’09. Some of us aren’t looking forward to all of them and all of us aren’t looking forward to some of them…

Here are some other bands that are planning a release or have been rumored for 2009. Some have titled their records already and some have not.

  • Alice In Chains
  • Anthrax – Worship Music
  • Candlemass
  • Deftones – ErosDown
  • Down – Down IV
  • Dream Theater
  • Iron Maiden
  • Killswitch Engage
  • Korn
  • Lacuna Coil – Shallow Life
  • Mastodon – Crack the Skye
  • Megadeth
  • Poison The Well
  • Queensryche – American Soldier
  • Rammstein

So things are looking great so far. I’m really looking forward to some new KSE and Megadeth…and perhaps a new Iron Maiden album, we’ll have to see about that. I’m also really looking forward to the Hatebreed For The Lions cover album. The Sepultura cover of Refuse/Resist is a great cover song and they did it well.

I’m sure it’s going to be another great year for tours too as most of the bands that put out albums this year are going to be touring behind them pretty much through the new year.

  • Tate:

i’m guessing the megadeth album is going to be out before they hit the road with gigantour. it looks like feb 24th is going to bloody rock. rammstein’s new one should also be great, they’ve been in the studio a while with it.

  • I guess SUFFOCATION will also be releasing a new album, (Blood oath)

  • Yeah, man. I forgot about that when I wrote this up and metioned it a day or two later in a whole other post. I’m really looking forward to Blood Oath.
