10 Bands/Albums You Need To Hear But Probably Haven't

Malebolgia - Requiem For The Inexorable

Malebolgia - Requiem For The Inexorable

Here is a short list of bands that you may or may not have heard or heard of. They aren’t exactly paddlin’ up the main stream of metal but they’re making waves in the wading pool and are very worthy of hearing and giving praise for their music or latest albums. I’ve provided links to their Myspace or official home page.

  1. Malefice: Dawn Of Reprisal (Awesome British thrash/death/prog metal  on Metal Blade)
  2. Malebolgia: Requiem For the Inexorable (NC Death Grind band on Comatose Records)
  3. Ignominious Incarceration – Of Winter Born (Seriously awesome tech-death metal on Earache)
  4. Hemoptysis – Who Needs A Shepard Ep (Arizona death/thrash)
  5. Insect Warfare – Worldwide Extermination (Dirty, gritty grindcore)
  6. Absolute Vengeance (Northern VA unsigned metal band)
  7. Violator  – Chemical Assault (Thrash Fucking metal!)
  8. Yakuza (Chicago jazz infused progressive death metal. Simply amazing!)
  9. Lay Down Rotten – Gospel Of The Wretched (killer melodic death metal)
  10. Mumakil – Behold The Failure (Fast and brutal Swiss grindcore)

  • c-g:

i’ve heard “god dethroned” thanks to one of your reviews, and… yes, they’re good.

yakuza sounds familiar but it may be thanks to hollywood and not exactly by my radio…

you know… i haven’t had the time, but i would really like to hear more from brazil, i know not all of them are like the Cavaleras’ Sepultura, but they definitely have a great potential thanks to how portuguese sounds & tribal elements; have you tried to scream lyrics in portuguese (or try to sing fado to your lover)? tha’s a great language.

  • metalguy:

ignominios incarceration is by far my favorite release of 2009 so far. Mumakil, maleface, and insect warfare are great too

  • Gil:

malefice kicks ass, thanks for turning me on to them

  • Scott:

Insect Warfare takes a few songs to really start feeling it because it’s so gritty.

Malefice does kick ass. It took me more than one listen to really start digging it. Mumakil, while not all that filled with variety, will still rip you a good one.

c-g, go to the Prosthetics Records link up in the Free Mp3 page on the top menu. There you can find a Yakuza song called “Egocide” and one other. Egocide is an awesome tune. I do need to hear more S.A. meta. I think Krisiun is on the roster of a show I’ll be seeing in June or July.

  • Israel:

I would recommend Battlecross, i just found out about them. There like Tech/Thrash, I’m really digging their sound.
