Scrap Metal Report 7/10/09
I’m sitting here with a pint of Guinness, which is quite wonderful even though 10 years ago I couldn’t stomach it; waiting for my Laptop to get done backing everything up so I can do a full restore after it took a shit on me when I got home. Seems like it’s taking forever. In the meantime I’m using my recording PC listening to Toxic Holocaust. Thanks Alex. it only took me like 6 months to get it. Glad I have a back-up PC, otherwise you wouldn’t see any updates tonight. Anyway, I thought I’d start things off with a simple catch up of what’s going down today in the world of metal.
- On the latest edition of the Megadeth Liveline (1-866-597-6342), Dave said that the album is done being mixed and has been sent to Roadrunner for mastering. he also said that we should be on the lookout for artwork for the new album soon. As far as the new song goes, I certainly hope there are better tracks on the album ’cause I’m not really feeling this one. Also at Megadeth.com they will be launching Megaman radio. You can read more about that at Bravewords.com.
- Does anyone give a shit if Jim Carry even has a daughter? Do you give a shit that she’s pregnant from some dude in a band I’ve never heard of? Thought so.
- Gojira will be opening for Metallica on the NA tour. Some day I’d like to see Metallica live, perhaps only to be able to say that I did. I’d also love to see Gojira live and honestly I’d think I’d enjoy that more.
- Ozzy is looking for a new guitar player to replace Zakk Wylde? What? In an interview with Classic Rock Magazine the Ozz-man said he’s looking because Zakk has his own things going on and Ozzy doesn’t want his band to sound like BLS. Even said he’s trying to get John 5. Gimme a fucking break! John 5?
- Metal Hammer has had a chance to look over the new Shadows Fall album. For a preview go to Metalhammer.
- In Nickelback news, I was cruising Craigslist the other day and I saw some dude trying to sell 4 tickets for $250 and said that he paid $300. I thought to myself that that was possibly the biggest rip off. I’m glad metal isn;t so mainstream that you have to pay that much to see a shitty band. $35 at the most will normally get you in to see at least 3 bands. hell, most of the time tickets aren’t more that $30 at the venues around here.
- This past week Varg Vikerns announced that he’s working on a new Burzum album. Hopefully whatever he does it’s not garbage and has good production musicianship and isn’t too black metal cliche.
- In strange new, Malevolent Creation guitarist Phil Fasciana claims that he walked in on a convenient store robbery and killed someone. Nobody can confirm this and even the Police in Frasciana’s county say it didn’t happen. is he totally fabricating this story or is he delusional? He also says he wishes that everyone would NOT believe it and leave him alone. Dude? If you don’t want people to stir up shit over something like this then don’t go reporting it to metal sites, especially Blabbermouth. Who’s the retard?
That’s it for this edition of The Scrap metal Report. We’ll see you this weekend

Haha I just laughed so hard when reading your “Nickelback” news! That’s just awesome funny and true, what a rip off!
Agreed that up in Toronto and Southern Ontario as well you can get into most metal shows for around 30-35 bones (with 3 or 4 bands opening), unless they play at a medium sized venue then it jumps to 50ish, and the big ones outdoors or stadiums are usually 70 – 100, but those are the good/best tickets to a big name. Price doesn’t matter though if I want to see the band, I’d rather pay the few extra bucks than regret not going, and you never know when a band is going to breakup the next day.
They’re definitely one of Roadrunner’s cash cows.
i dont know a single person who likes them
