Mandatory Health Insurance?

Hospital signLet me take a moment to break away from metal and talk slightly about politics. I first thought that health care was something that every American was entitled to. I still feel that way to an extent but I feel that if every American is to be entitled to health care, ever American needs to contribute in some way or relinquish these “rights” before accepting a proposed bill that would make health care available to them. Far too many people already receive free health care and do not contribute. Some of these people are NOT even American citizens and are financially able to contribute to our “system”. The problem is that a proposed bill may make it mandatory to have health insurance or be penalized. If this is the case, than are we really “fixing” it or are we just making it worse than it already is?

When president Obama started talking about health reform, I was all about it. America is one of the few countries that Health care is an extremely profitable business, hence the ads and commercials you see on television and in magazines and such for pharmaceuticals and such. I don’t like to talk politics too much because I don’t know all that much about politics, so I don’t.

This subject is a huge concern for so many people. Some have good jobs that have good benefits and some don’t have jobs with good benefits or jobs at all. For the people that don’t have good benefits or jobs, health care is something that they worry about constantly. For someone without health insurance, the thought of a hospital visit can be devastating in a financial state. It’s hard enough to pay the common bills, but with a simple hospital visit the bills usually come in the form of itemization. In other words you get about four different bills from different branches of the hospital. They can add up very quickly, I know this from experience.

The thought and proposal of health care reform for the middle to lower class, working people sounds like a great idea. Government run health plans sounds like a great idea, does it not? Sure it does, until you start looking in the the way the Department Of Veteran Affairs takes care of our military veterans. If you studied this subject you would see that the government can not even take care of a population of men and women that have served our country without totally screwing things up. Imagine the entire country being under this type of service.

Now there is another issue with health insurance and health reform that is even MORE messed up. Imagine if you have to  carry mandatory health insurance or be fined or jailed. Do not compare health insurance to auto insurance because it’s two different worlds. You can choose whether or not to drive or own a car. If you CHOOSE to own and drive an automobile you have to have auto insurance of some sort whether it be full coverage or liability. This is your choice, but to have to be required to carry health insurance or be fined and/or jailed is unconstitutional according to my sources, and I am pretty confident in my sources. For a large family that is either unemployed or does not have a job with good benefits, this  could greatly effect their financial state.

Whether you are for or against the health care plan that our president is proposing, there are some things you need to think  about. A) Don’t expect anything to be free and easy. B) Don’t expect it to free and easy and lastly, C) NOTHING is free and easy, except maybe a trailer park slut and even then, there are consequences.

Health care reform is needed, yet we need to take the proper steps to ensure that we don’t dig ourselves in to a hole any more than we already are. We also need to WANT to be able to contribute in some sort of way to make a good, proper health care plan available to everyone, if that’s what it comes down to. This is going to be a very difficult task to say the least.

I supported the current president in his running for office and I was all about it when he started talking about health care because I know how much those bills can add up and how much of a toll it takes on your mind when you need it but can not afford it. When I heard that it may be mandatory and that we could be punished for NOT having health care, I thought that was absolutely absurd. This is a subject that I actually support the conservatives on and I cringe every time I hear about the health care reform bill  being one step closer to approval.

The people that are all about health reform have no idea exactly what it may entail and do not realize how much it could actually hurt them. They are only thinking that they are going to get FREE health care and that is NOT what is going to happen.

If you’ve never been in to politics before but have interest in this health care reform, I highly encourage you to study up on it and understand precisely what it will take to improve it and what the United States Government plans on pushing forward to “improve” health care in the future. Be careful what you ask for. Not because you might just get it, but because it may be entirely the opposite of what you expected.
