The Future is Uncertain…

What the fuck does that mean, right? Well times are tough and in the next coming months this blog may not exist anymore. Again, due to time constraints and financial issues, I may not renew the domain.

It’s a tough economy and my wife just lost all of her blogging jobs because the media outlet she was working for has decided to take another direction and has fired close to 100 bloggers. Notice Metal Martyr (Which used to be a great blog IMO and a fairly good source of income when I blogged there) has not been updated since January. Now I am again the sole provider for the family and every cent is crucial.

On another note, I have been contributing an article here and there at my new favorite up-and-coming blog, The Number of the Blog as “EvilivE“, which has an amazing, diverse crew of writers that love everything metal. I tried to get other writers for HookInMouth to diversify it as well, but they have come and gone and not really contributed much and have quit without any kind of notification. (Thanks guys, that’s really cool of you).

I have tried the ad outlet for generating revenue to support this blog , but I only get paid when people actually buy something from the ads, which never happens. I understand that ads are a royal pain in the ass and people don’t generally click or buy from ads, so I never really expected much to begin with. It would have been nice to be able to generate some money to pay a writer or two, but I never got paid myself and always did it strictly out of love for metal. I thought about hiring someone out of my own pocket, but that is out of the question now. So, the last resort is to shut my baby down and to do things as time allows.

Keep tuning in and I’ll keep posting until the time comes to hang it up. After that, I’ll be posting whenever they let me over at The Number of the Blog, which is growing at a rapid rate and has plenty of great content, again from a bunch of cool writers that want nothing more than to spread the metal word. Thanks.

i’ve been a fan of your writings and rants for close to a year now, and while ill miss this site, as long as you still write i’ll be happy. metalmartyr imploded once you quit and i dont really know how popular this one is/was. TNOTB has a pretty large readership thanks to MS, so if more people read, the better.
Also i didn’t know anyone else ever wrote for you. Were those just the “heres a new _____” articles because if so you cant blame me for not noticing

  • metalguy:

well i just typed a big comment that didnt appear so heres a summary
Do what you have to do man. Ill miss your writings and this site but if its for your family its for the best. TNOTB is picking up and having you write their will be fun.
I never knew you had other writers. When did that happen

  • I had two other writers that submitted a couple of articles but not a lot. Alex Rochon submitted a few about playing metal guitar (Which were really good) and Will Spence wrote one or two about a couple of bands, but not much. After that they kind of dropped off and I didn’t hear anything from them. TNOTB is a great blog and breaks the monotony of Metalsucks.

Hope everything pans out for you and you don’t have to close down shop, but I understand how things are. I’ll start checking TNOTB. Anyways its always great to have someone to chat to about metal when i get excited about it. Hope TNOTB works out for you as well.

    • Thanks, Giles. They have a lot of great stuff over at TNOTB. We’ll see how I feel in a month or so, but chances are HIM will likely close down.
