14 songs, covered by 14 bands. This is an early edition of the Hooked! Podcast. With my new career, my schedule has changed drastically and I don’t get every weekend off like I used to. So I got my lazy ass in gear and whipped up this podcast with full commentary. Here are 14 songs, mostly metal, covered by metal bands. Tracklist below.

Just a side note. Fear Factory covered Gary Numan’s Cars, not BY the Cars. For some crazy reason I always thought this song was by The Cars, whom I like very much but obviously have very little knowledge of aside from their Greatest Hits album.

No commentary on this one, but I will give a little foreword to it. The first time I heard and acknowledged Black Sabbath, I was just getting into heavier and heavier music. Sure I heard the name a thousand times but I was pretty young and just never thought about it much. Growing up in a small town as I did, Sabbath was always labeled as one of those “Devil music” bands. I heard Ozzy’s Bark At The Moon and a few song from Blizzard Of Ozz a couple of times, but back in the late 80’s I was mainly in to Aerosmith, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. Those were the main bands I could dig up in my hick town. I started listening to a radio station out of the Utica/Rome NY area and back then they played all sorts of stuff out of the  norm of your average small city station. The first time I heard Iron Man’s opening riff, it changed my life. The first chance I got I went out and bought Paranoid on cassette tape and wore that thing out from side A to B, ’cause that album is classic and every song is amazing. Long overdue but I had a great time listening to some Pantera tracks that I haven’t listened to in awhile. I tried to avoid the obviously over-played songs and went for what I wanted to hear. Next week if my schedule for my new job doesn’t get in the way, I’ll be playing a podcast of all metal bands covering songs of other metal bands and I’m really looking forward to that one.
