SUCKERS!!! Cattle Decapitation Pull The Best Publicity Stunt…EVER!!!

Cattle Decapitation The Harvest Floor

Cattle Decapitation: The harvest Floor

So I’m reading MetalMartyr.com and the latest news is that a mass grave of over a dozen bodies were found underneath the garden of a San Diego suburb home. Also found on the scene was Cattle Decapitations new album The Harvest Floor, stating that the murders may have been a copy-cat type murder having to do with  their song “A Body Farm“. I’ll admit that I fell for it for about two minutes and then I ran a google search [not that I’m trying to discredit Metal Martyr] and The Gauntlet had “news footage”

So I click on the video and start watching. As I’m watching, the video seems kind of fishy. I’m reading the ticker as it goes across the bottom of the screen of the “News footage” and I start to laugh because nobody is actually reading the ticker when they are watching this, I guarantee. You’ll see. The news footage ends and you guessed it, the new video for “A Body Farm” Begins.

BRAVO! [me clapping] to Cattle Decap for pulling one of the best publicity stunts ever in metal! Watch the video at The Gauntlet…and read the ticker (it’s hilarious). I hate to have ruined it for anyone, but…fuck it.

Hook In Mouth Favorite Albums Of 2009 (So Far)

daath-the-concealersPutting this list together was not that difficult for me. Since the number of albums that I have actually heard or bought this year is fairly limited right now, it was a simple process of elimination. This is not a top 10 list of any sort. Some of these may not be out yet. This is simply MY favorites of 2009. If you’d like to share your favorite 2009 releases, put it in the comment section.

  1. ÐÅÅTH: The Concealers – This album probably gets the most play of any album I have listened to this year. There is just something about this album that keeps me coming back.
  2. Mastodon: Crack The Skye – Coming in at a very close second, Crack The Skye just blew me away the first time I heard it. I burned myself out on it for the first few weeks before it’s release and a little more after it’s release.
  3. Kreator: Hordes Of Chaos – Classic thrash metal icons show that they still have it with H.O.C. Their live show is amazing.
  4. Napalm Death: Time Waits For No Slave – Grindcore legends and pioneers show that they still have it going on and can teach a thing or two to all the ‘core bands out there, especially in the solos field.

Cattle Decapitation Frontman On Chaos With Full Metal Jackie Tonight

I heard some of the new Snot and even as a fan of Get Some, I was actually impressed with what I heard.

Must Have CDs, A to F

Listed are some recommendations of bands and albums that you may or may not already have. While I’d love to go through every one of the bands and cds that I really like and recommend, I would be here forever. As new ones come up I’ll add and update them as they come along. For now here are some newer albums that I recommend. I’ll go through some older albums later one. Here’s the first shots of A through F.

Amon Amarth: The first album I chose to start off with this band is With Oden On Our Side and it was a great choice. The heavy, headbanging, riffed filled viking metal songs are all amazing. Fate Of Norns sounds a bit different vocally and a little more raw on the productions side but is still a good album. Their latest, Twilight Of The Thunder God doesn’t sound too differently from With Oden’ but it’s another great addition to the Amon Amarth collection.

Arsis: We Are The Nightmare was on quite a few Best Of 2008 lists for a reason. We Are The Nightmare went under a lot of radars and this album from beginning to end is a masterpiece of nimble finger work with extreme melody and comprehensible vocals in a grind/death fashion. Hopefully James Malone can find a stable line-up and we can have more albums like this.

Bloodbath: If you love the death metal style vocals in Opeth and want more of that heaviness that normally comes along with that voice than look no further than Bloodbath. Star wherever you want to with Bloodbath but I would recommend The Fathomless Mastery, while their last EP, Unblessing The Purity and Resurrection Through Carnage are great as well. Nightmares Made Flesh was made with Peter Tägtgren on vocals and I’m not sure how that album sounds.

Book Of Black Earth: One of Prosthetic Records latest edition brings a doom-ish, blackened death metal sound with thick tone while somehow keeping it fairly melodic. Check out their prosthetic debut, Horoskopus.

Cattle Decapitation: By now you’ve heard the name a few times, but have you listened yet? With a new album coming out in a couple of weeks I would still recommend Karma.Blood.Karma. This is my first Cattle Decapitation album and I’ve just yet to dig in to the rest. Keep an eye out for The Harvest Floor On January 27th.

Cavalera Conspiracy: For fans of Soulfly and Sepultura. I think Igor and Max’s reunion woke up something in Max that hasn’t been there in awhile. A sound that brought him back to the Sepultura’s thrash roots. This even shows up on Conquer, Soulfly’s latest album. Get Inflikted.

Firewind: Premonition is some great metal with a positive message all the way through. Some may call it generic, but I really dig it. The band is solid all the way around guitars, keyboards, drums, vocals, everything! Alligience was the first album with current singer Apollo Papathanasio and both Alligience and Premonition have the same line-up.

G through L on the next go around.

Any "Normal" People In Southern California?

Cattle Decapitation is looking for “Normal” extras for their video shoot for the song Regret & The Grave from their upcoming January 27th release, The Harvest Floor on Metal Blade Records. BW&BK reports:

“We will be filming the rest of the ‘Regret & The Grave’ video (this is the “storyline part”) in the Burbank/northern Los Angeles area and we can use the following regular, everyday, ‘normal looking folks’: moms, dads, kids, old people, teens…of all races, colors, basically as long as you are walking upright and speak a language understood by other same species on earth, we may be able to use you as an extra in our video. BUT, THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT SO PLEASE READ: Unfortunately, we cannot really use folks that look too ‘metal’, ‘punk’, ‘crusty’, ‘goth’, ‘scene kids’, etc… BUT, if you match that description and have very ‘normal, everyday’ kind of friends or family, then we can definitely consider that.

The reason we have those stipulations is because we are basically in a way going to recreate what is going on in the image on the cover of our upcoming album, “The Harvest Floor” and that is why we need an eclectic mix of people, not just a bunch of metal and punk kids. Check our page if you haven’t seen the cover yet!

No, there is no money involved!!! Yes, we’re asking for your free time!!!

We need roughly ten people and there will be a meeting location where we meet and then proceed to the filming location. You will be responsible for your own transportation.

Again, we’re looking for normal, everyday people. Do not be offended if we say no!”

So they want you to donate your time to perhaps an awesome video…if you don’t look too metal. For more info on how you may be able to be an extra email them at regretvideo@yahoo.com

Cattle Decapitation Veggie Burger?

How many times have you gone in to a restaurant and thought “Man I could go for a veggie burger.”? Yeah, me neither. I like my burgers beefy and bloody. If I want vegetables I eat…well, vegetable. However there are plenty of people that love the fiber-filled-facades they call veggie burgers.

San Diego’s own Cattle Decapitation now has a signature dish at Hamilton’s Pub in San Diego’s South Park (not the cartoon with the fat kid) community. Check it out.

You heard that right! Tucked away in San Diego’s South Park community is Hamilton’s Pub and Café whom now boast a delicious veggie burger called the “Cattle Decapitation”! Inspired by the local veggie gore band of the same name, the burger’s homemade all-vegan patty is a scrumptious mix of black beans, garlic, corn, potatoes and Hamilton’s secret mix of spices! Add some lettuce, tomatoes, onions and vegan PCS sauce (stands for Phil Collins sucks), this burger is simply the best damn veggie burger in town! Comes with excellent homemade pub chips and a bonus side of vegan sweet coconut curry sauce!

You can check out another photo at Cattle Decapitation’s Myspace Blog. Pictured above is Cattle Decapitation’s own frontman, Travis Ryan.

I wonder when Cannibal Corpse will have their own burger and what that will be made of?

Cattle Decapitation: I Think I'm In Love

Every now and then I find a new foundation of love for some brutal sounds that I previously had no interest in, for one reason or another. This time around it is Cattle Decapitation. I’ve seen the name around a thousand times but something about the name just kind of had me disinterested. It wasn’t until I found the ‘A Body Farm‘ widget the other day that I gained some interest in them. I mean over the past year I have grown to like things that I have lost interest in the past. That being the death metal, grind genre.

When I started to break away from some of the other bands that I have followed in the past for whatever reason, I started to find awesome bands in the midst of redundancy. That’s what makes metal really hard to follow at times because you start to hear some bands that sound like every other band so it kind of makes you hesitant to listen to new music. So you dismiss every other band you hear, especially when you see their name every other day. Read the rest of this entry »
