Job For A Cowboy Cancel Several Upcoming Dates
As most of you know Job For A Cowboy is currently on tour with Gwar and Lamb of God. Well I guess there seems to be a “family emergency” and they have to cancel some upcoming dates according to the following myspace announcement. I am going to the show on the 21st and to be totally honest I wasn’t looking forward to seeing them play. I hope everything is okay on their home-front but I’m kind of relieved that I won’t have to sit through their set. I’m not sure if they will have a fill in band during these dates.Perhaps The Red Chord could fill the void and I’d be very happy. Here is the Myspace announcement: Read the rest of this entry »
Lamb of God, Gwar And Job For A Cowboy Tour The U.S.

News I kind of knew already but only had two know dates for. Lamb Of God along with fellow Virginians, Gwar are touring the U.S. with Job For A Cowboy opening. I’ll be hitting the October 21st show and interviewing Gwar and hope to shot some killer photos! I missed my Gwar interview back when they were in the state with Cattle Decapitation. This time around it won’t be missed, especially with Lamb of God headlining. I’m still not all that fond of Wrath but I’m not going to miss the show because L.O.G never comes around here. If this tour comes near you, hit it up and bring your game-face to the pit! Don;t forget to check out Gwar’s Lust In Space next week. Tour dates after the fold. Read the rest of this entry »
Call Me Lazy, But Here Is A Link To JFAC Ruination Review
I’ve been contemplating writing the review for this album because I’m not a fan of Job For A Cowboy. That’s never stopped me before but the fact is that it’s not really a bad album and I think it’s a step in the right direction for this band. Listening to it on the way in to work this morning I was trying to figure out how to put in to words what I’m hearing and feeling about this album. Well I really can’t. Okay, I can but I might sound a bit confused as usual. I don’t want to give it a great review but it really doesn’t deserve a bad one. With that said, you can read a review of Ruination at SpineLanguage and it pretty much reflects most of my own views on this album. Here is a very short excerpt.
Job For a Cowboy is one of several bands like The Faceless who are trying their hand at moving beyond a lot of deathcore mainstays, such as spastic riff abandonment syndrome (S.R.A.S. for short), pig squeals, gratutious one-string breakdowns, etc., in favor of a more tech-death approach. There’s no question that JFAC and the rest of these acts are still deathcore, but they’re more like the genre’s asshole big brothers now; Suicide Silence and the like are the snot-nosed little brats who continue to epitomize the idiocy of their fanbase.
Reviews By The Handfull: As You Drown, Crimson Armada, Moss, Astra and Job For A Cowboy
I’ve been sitting on some reviews for a bit just for the sole reason that time is short and reviews can eat a lot of it up. So here is a run down of some of the new or upcoming Metal Blade band reviews in the short and sweet.

As You Drown - Reflection
As You Drown – Reflection: Sweden’s As You Drown attempt at a death metal record is a good attempt. It’s heavy and sometimes melodic but the problem that arises is that these guys will get thrown in to the Deathcore pool because, well, they already have been compared to Whitechapel. They also don’t do a whole lot to set themselves apart from the deathcore bands and on top of that there is not a lot of variety in the music. It all kind of melds together at times. Cool cover through. Read the rest of this entry »
Job For A Cowboy: Unfurling A Darkenedd Gospel Video
Job For A Cowboy have unleashed Ruination on the world today. Along with the record release comes the first video from Ruination. The opening track of the record is an indication what the rest of it is like. Nothing mind-blowing, but pretty damn good. Here is Unfurling A Darkened Gospel.
Scrap Metal Report 6/26/09
My apologies for no postings last night. I was far too broken up over Michael Jackson’s death to blog, so I took a day of mourning. Actually I found out yesterday while I was at work very late and it didn’t even phase me. The bad thing about celebrities dying is that their dead asses get kissed more in death than they did in life. I mean, how many people ridiculed and criticized this dude while he was alive? How many people made fun of him, imitated him and called him a pedophile, fag or homo? COUNTLESS, that’s how many. Now each and every one of those people is trying to get their lips under the sheet and on his ass-cheeks that are now resting on a cold slab of steel awaiting dissection. They will now call him an icon, an idol, an influence, etc., etc, but a few years ago nobody wanted to be associated with him when he was on trial for alleged child molestation. Go fuck yourself, world. I hope when I die people tell it like it is. If I was an asshole and I mistreated them for whatever reason, then I hope they speak up and say “I’m glad that fuckers dead!”. All I’m saying is that people are far too fake in this world and they’ll tell more lies to make themselves feel better for the lies they told already.
All Bullshit aside, it’s the weekend, I’ve got some beers to drink tonight and then I’m heading out tomorrow to see Goatwhore, Daath, Abigail Williams, S.W.W.A.A.T.S. and another band that I can’t remember on the Conquer And Curse tour. So let’s catch up on some metal news. Read the rest of this entry »

Job For A Cowboy Unveil New Album Cover

Job For A Cowboy Ruination
Still not sold on Job For A Cowboy, but I’m not talking shit and/or dismissing them. It’s been awhile since I tried listening to them (and it was very brief) and maybe I’ll come around. Their new album, Ruination, gets it’s release on July 7th in North America. Here are a few words from a press release about the album.
“The ideas involved with the new album branch off from our last record, ‘Genesis’ but are more politically based,” states Davy. Topics addressed by the album’s schema revolve around modern day worldwide dilemmas and controversial issues including “Propaganda in the main stream media and television, humanitarian rights of Northern Korea, the modern genocidal government of Nubia, the use of torture in American military tactics, overruling by world governments and Police states / Martial law”.
Following the release JFAC will set out on tour on the Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Fest. As you probably already know, the roster of bands on that tour is simply awesome. Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, KSE, The Black Dahlia Murder…the list goes on. Here are the dates. Read the rest of this entry »
