Much Less Shitty Footage Of Machine Head Performing Pantera’s Fucking Hostile Live

I can’t wait to hear a studio version of this. Phil Demmel does the solo some justice, too.

Shitty Footage Of Machine Head Covering Pantera’s Fucking Hostile Live

I’m having a bitch of a time converting and uploading tonight’s podcast. Until I then here is really shitty footage of machine Head covering Pantera’s Fucking Hostile, which will be on the upcoming Metal Hammer release Dimebag Tribute CD. Of course that’s going to be a studio version, but they sound pretty damn good.

Megadeth Endgame Tour: Richmond Virginia Review

endgame show

As soon as tickets for the North American Endgame tour went on sale I was all over it and bought my ticket. It cost me a little over $40 dollars but I had not been to a Megadeth show in over 12 years.

When we got to the venue there was a long line down the street and I figured it was going to be a long wait because it was listed that doors were opening at 6:45 pm and we got there a little less than an hour before the scheduled opening. Parked the car in a parking deck that said they were closing at 12:30 am and that had me a little worried because I wasn’t sure what time the show was supposed to be over but the attendant told me that it was supposed to be over by 11:30. Willie Adler Speaks For Everyone:"Fuck Limp Bizkit"

Lamb of God's Willie Adler

Lamb of God's Willie Adler

So there was some controversy this passed weekend as Machine Head refused to open for Limp Bizkit as Sonisphere. Shit, can you blame them? They dropped out and then came back as “Special Guests” because…well I’m not completely sure why. Maybe they needed the money, I don’t know.

Krissy X from Komodo Rock spoke with Lamb of God’s Willie Adler. Basically, when asked about his opinion on the situation, Willie had this to say:

Fuck those dudes! Fuck that band, and fuck all the people who work for that fuckin’ band!

Couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s not 2000 and in my opinion Limp Bizkit and Fred Douche are no longer relevant in…anything. Why should Machine Head, a band that is still relevant and been going strong for years [even through the trendy days], have to open up for a shitty band that’s on a reunion run. So, yeah, Fuck Limp Bizkit! Oh, and Willia also says that British Food “sucks dick”.

The Scrap Metal Report 7/29/09

new-scrap-metal

Only a few more days until I move out of farm country, thank goodness! This has been a hectic week packing and getting rid of shit that I wonder why the hell I was saving in the first place. Good news is that everything is set up for the move and if all goes well it should be fairly painless and I’ll be back up and running at normal speed by Monday evening. To wrap shit up until tomorrow and report on significant metal news, here is the latest scrap metal report.

  • Apparently Machine Head’s Phil Demmel really needs to take a break and take it easy. He collapsed once again this passed week at Sonisfeaer in Finland.
  • It’s also apparent that Roadrunner Records will sign just about anybody these days. Tommy Lee‘s Methods Of Mayhem are their newest addition. WTF?
  • Dave Mustaine needs to have a “quick” surgery done on his neck. He says it should be a brief procedure that shouldn’t side-line him very long. Dave is a trooper and I’m sure it’s not going to stop him from touring very long, especially with the upcoming release of Endgame.
  • BDM Deflorate

    BDM Deflorate

The Black Dahlia Murder have released the artwork to their upcoming album Deflorate. It’s not the best picture, but it gives you the basic feel. It’s a little different from past BDM album covers, but I don’t care as long as the album sounds good.

  • Love a band but hate most of the other fans of said band? I hear you and so does Metalsucks.net.

Machine Head The Blackening (SE) Review

I’m a huge hater of special edition CDs coming out unless there is a good amount of bonus shit that comes along. That and unless it comes out at the same time as the original release. The Blackening is a great Machine Head cd and it spurred my interest in the band once again. Everyone knows of all the kick-ass songs that The Blackening has on it, but the material in question is the bonus material or “Special Edition” material if you may. There isn’t but an extra page or two in the liner notes and it comes in a cardboard slip case. Nothing super special really.

The two bonus track, a cover of Iron Maiden’s Hollowed Be Thy Name and Metallica’s Battery are good solid covers that still sound like Machine Head and the covered bands at the same time. I always like a good cover and these two serve you pretty well considering the bands that released them originally. Is it worth the price for these two cover songs? Nah…

The bonus DVD is cool with a lot of live footage as well as the 3 videos that were made from the album and the making of each of them. Overall the bonus DVD is great if you love , well… Machine Head videos and live footage. It all that worth the price? Maybe…

The bottom line is that if you already have this album and only want the cover tunes, check iTunes. If you already have this album and want to see the live fottage and videos, then see if a friend has it and borrow it. Honestly, how many times are you going to watch the DVD anyway? If you don’t own The Blackening at all then by all means, pick up the special edition and enjoy it for a few extra bucks.
