Napalm Death – On The Brink Of Extinction Video
Well over a year after releasing Time Waits For No Slave, legendary grindcore pioneers Napalm Death have released a video for their song, On The Brink Of Extinction. A video that would make Paul Watson and the crew of the Sea Shepard proud, On The Brink Of Extinction shows clips of whaling and seal clubbing. Oh, it also shows clips of military troops and a nuclear missile (complete with an explosion) and has the band playing the song. It kind of reminds me of one of my favorite one liner jokes: ‘A baby seal walks in to a club…’
HOOKED! GRIND-CAST
Tonight’s podcast features a few grindcore classics and a few new ones. We were supposed to have a special guest, which was GroverXIII from TheNumberOfTheBlog.com. So I had things all set up so GroverXIII from TheNumberOfTheBlog would be on the podcast with me, but I royally screwed something up and it didn’t record. Instead I’ve posted a playlist with the songs I planned on playing in the podcast. Look for a blogcast in the future featuring writers from The Number Of The Blog and check out the blogcasts over there as well.
I think it is also important to note that 6 out of 7 of these bands are on EARACHE records, who seem to be the best outlet for grindcore of new and old. The UK label doesn’t fuck around when it comes to grindcore and the EARACHE founder, Digby Pearson knows good grindcore when he hears it. It’s no wonder that even after all these years, Earache is probably the best label for your grindcore needs.
Here is the Music Player. You need to installl flash player to show this cool thing!
Hook In Mouth Favorite Albums Of 2009 (So Far)
Putting this list together was not that difficult for me. Since the number of albums that I have actually heard or bought this year is fairly limited right now, it was a simple process of elimination. This is not a top 10 list of any sort. Some of these may not be out yet. This is simply MY favorites of 2009. If you’d like to share your favorite 2009 releases, put it in the comment section.
- ÐÅÅTH: The Concealers – This album probably gets the most play of any album I have listened to this year. There is just something about this album that keeps me coming back.
- Mastodon: Crack The Skye – Coming in at a very close second, Crack The Skye just blew me away the first time I heard it. I burned myself out on it for the first few weeks before it’s release and a little more after it’s release.
- Kreator: Hordes Of Chaos – Classic thrash metal icons show that they still have it with H.O.C. Their live show is amazing.
- Napalm Death: Time Waits For No Slave – Grindcore legends and pioneers show that they still have it going on and can teach a thing or two to all the ‘core bands out there, especially in the solos field.

Napalm Death And Suffocation Tour?
Metal Underground is reporting that some rumors are surfacing that death metal veterans, Suffocation and grindcore pioneers, Napalm Death may be touring together in North America in the spring of ’09.
Suffocation signed with Nuclear Blast Records and toured in support of Carcass on the Exhumed To Consume reunion tour. I was there, it was amazing. We can look forward to their Nuclear Blast debut with “Bood Oath” next year. Napalm Death are set to release a new album called “Time Waits For No Slave” in February on Century Media.
If these touring rumors are true it’s surely something to look out for and attend in the year to come.
Napalm Death Complete Recording New Album
UK grindcore pioneers, Napalm Death have finished recording their 14 studio album. Expected for a February, 2009 release, “Time Waits For No Slave” will be released by Century Media. Recorded at Kettering and Wales with producer Russ Russell. Below you can see the track listing. As usual, Napalm Death doesn’t skimp on songs…even if they are short.
Napalm Death should also be playing in Leeds this month at The Damnation Festival, if it already hasn’t come and gone. Another album to look forward to in February ’09 along with Lamb Of God‘s Wrath. Read the rest of this entry »
