When Is It Time To Cut The Hair?
Hair and metal have always gone hand-in-hand. It was never a requirement but it seemed more of something that just had to be. If you were a short-haired metal fan, it wasn’t really that big of a deal but it could sometimes make you feel a little different. These days it doesn’t matter and many metal musicians and fans have cut their hair whether it was because they were getting older, needed to change their look in order to appear more mature and professional or just because it had to go.
Corey Taylor, Randy Blythe and Phil Anselmo, just to name a few, have all shaved their heads and have all grown it back out. Corey and Phil are keeping it short these days, while randy let his grow out longer than I’ve ever seen it. Phil had reasoning behind his hair when during the Cowboys From Hell touring days he was headbanging on stage and his hair hit him in the eye and he decided to cut it instead of risk losing an eye. I don’t know what Randy and Corey’s motives were. Read the rest of this entry »
Sexuality As A Career Launching Pad
Let me first begin this by saying that I’m not a “homophobe”. I have no problem with a person being homosexual and I’ve been around and worked with plenty in my life. With that said, let me get in to my piece here.
Not too far back homosexuality was shunned, ridiculed, and frowned upon. To be openly gay was very taboo and people were afraid to “come out”. Some where even afraid to face the fact that they may be homosexual and led on as if they were straight for quite some time. These days it’s quite different. People are openly gay and gay rights are a huge subject in America and the rest of the world. The media feeds on people coming out and a lot of homosexual celebrities use their sexuality as a launching pad for their career. I have a huge problem with people using their sexuality to help boost their career and ratings, instead of using their talent to progressively push themselves to higher levels.
Adam Lambert is one of those people that is trying to use his sexuality to help further launch his career by being racy and provocative in order to get more press. There have been countless celebrities and musicians that have come out openly about their sexuality; so why is Adam Lambert different? Because most of the other celebrities/musicians that have come out have already established themselves with their talent before opening up their sexuality to the world. Let me get in to just a few examples. Read the rest of this entry »
Rob Halford Launches Metal God Record Label
Rob Halford is taking the “Metal God” patent one step further and starting his own record label.
“It’s been a long desire of mine to be a co-owner and participate in the operation of a label focused on supporting the rock and metal communities,” explains Rob Halford. “The infrastructure we have been assembling at Metal God Entertainment now allows myself and other artists to benefit from Metal God Records global physical and digital distribution networks, promotion and marketing services, apparel products and a broad range of Artist & Repertoire services.”
The label will partner with distributors to provide a global distribution service of physical and digital music. The website is up, but it’s not saying much at all, besides showing partnership with Conveyor of Canada, Alternative Distribution Alliance and Sony Music of Japan. http://MetalGodRecords.com
Judas Priest: A Touch Of Evil Live Album Details

Judas Priest A Touch Of Evil Live
Judas Priest are set to release a new live album sometime in July, with live songs that have never been released on other live albums during the Rob Halford years. That’s right, you may find a few of these songs on the live album, Live In London, during the Tim “Ripper” Owens years. Sadly those years were wasted with terrible songs. Owens was and still is a great screamer, but the song quality back then was just pure shit.
A Touch Of Evil contains 11 classic Priest songs for the collector, even with the Nostradamus songs. I can’t say that I’ll be running out and snatching this up though. I’m not big on live albums at all. If Slayer released another live album, I would probably be all over it. Here is the cover and track listing.
- Judas Rising
- Hellrider
- Between The Hammer & The Anvil
- Riding On The Wind
- Death
- Beyond The Realms Of Death
- Dissident Aggressor
- A Touch Of Evil
- Eat Me Alive
- Prophecy
- Painkiller
