It’s Official: Anthrax Added To American Carnage Tour.
It has been rumored for a couple of weeks now, even though we heard it straight from Mustaine’s mouth if you watched the video interview from 24ur.com. Dave Mustaine mentioned that Anthrax would be joining them on their American Carnage tour. A lot of people got excited to find out that they were going to see Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and Testament all on the same stage. Unfortunately all the information wasn’t really put out there and people just assumed.
The whole story is this; Anthrax will be joining Slayer and Megadeth for the SECOND leg of the American Carnage tour. Testament will only be along on the first leg of the tour from July 23rd to September 4th. Blabbermouth.net “exclusively” reported the second set of confirmed dates for leg 2 of American Carnage. confirmed tour dates for both legs after the fold. Read the rest of this entry »
Pro-Shot Sonisphere Bulgaria Footage Of All 4 Bands
Youtube user MrTallica4lifegbrtdy, has uploaded all sorts of great Sonisphere 2010 Sophia Bulgaria footage to include a much better quality version of the Am I Evil performance. Below are just picks of my favorites out of the bunch. I hate to admit, but I think Dave needs some kind of vocal coaching or something to hit those semi-higher notes, granted his voice might have been shot from the previous shows and songs. Anyway, watch them all on MrTallica4lifegbrtdy‘s Channel.
The Big Four Make Epic History Performing Diamond Head’s ‘Am I Evil
This might seem like it could be a huge cluster-fuck at first, but it seemed to come together quite well. You can get the gist of it here, but Blabbermouth has more story on it with rehearsal photos and shit. (Don’t look now, but Dave Mustaine and James Hetfield actually hugged at the end @ 4:13). Is the hatchet finally buried? I hope so.)
Slayer Make Their Worst Video…EVER
I would almost say that it’s the worst video ever, but we all know it’s not. I’m disappointed in it, as I’m sure most people are. What do you think?
Tom Araya Can’t Headbang Anymore. Enjoy Some Classic SLAYER!!!
According to Noisecreep, Slayer’s Tom Aray can’t headbang anymore due to his surgery. As we get older our bodies and abuse to ourselves takes it toll. Tom Araya is no exception and pushing 50 years old, it was only a matter of time. Dave Mustaine has had the same problem with his neck. We’re not immortal and any harsh and unnatural movements you put your body over the years is bound to catch up to you. As long as both of these guys keeps churning out good music, who gives a fuck if they can headbang or of they are zombified like Mick Mars. Let’s enjoy some classic Slayer footage from 1985.

Best Of 2009 List Consistencies
I have not come across a “Best Of 2009″ list yet that Mastodon are not the number 1 pick or at least top three. It seems that Crack The Skye is an all around favorite of most bloggers and magazines. Compared to 2008, I think the magazines have finally got it right this year instead of putting a veteran band like Megadeth as number 1. While I love Endgame, I don’t think it is by any means better than Crack The Skye. Engame has been showing up in quite a few top 5′s though, including my own.
Another band that I am seeing quite a bit of on these best of lists is Anaal Nathrakh‘s In The Constellation Of The Black Widow, which has me extremely curious now. Also Goatwhore‘s Carving Out The Eyes Of God has made the cut on quite a few lists as well.
One album that is getting a lot of praise that I’m not really feeling is Revocation‘s Existence Is Futile. Perhaps I just haven’t heard enough, but the little bit that I have heard just hasn’t won me over. I’ll give it time and try again.
Slayer‘s World Painted Blood has popped up on a few and while I’m still a big Slayer fan, I just don;t feel that they have written an album worth any list in quite some time. World Painted Blood is better than most albums they have done in awhile but just not to my taste for a list. It’s just a matter of personal opinion I suppose.
All in all, it’s tough to make a list of top albums of 2009 because there were just so many great releases this year. That’s why I limited my own lists to 6 while pitting them in specific sub-genres. It was just much easier that way than arguing with myself if I made a top 20.
I do see a great inconsistency though, and that is that Skeletonwhich are being very under-rated with Breathing The Fire. Amazing album that should be getting a lot more attention and praise, but again, it’s all about personal preference. I look forward to see what 2010 will bring us and I look forward even more to some more great shows to attend in the next year.
Six Feet Under’s Slayer Cover Doesn’t Suck…
…It blows. I seriously thought I would actually like Six Feet Under‘s cover of Slayer‘s At Dawn They Sleep from Hell Awaits, when it first started but then Chris Barnes starts singing and it ruined it for me. I honestly haven’t heard one Grave Yard Classics song that I have actually liked. With Barnes limited vocal range it just makes making a cover song as a death metal band, um, pointless. Unless you are covering a song by another death metal band, it just sounds rather shitty.
See, or listen for yourself at Six Feet Under’s Myspace.
