Revolver Magazine: A Vulgar Display Of Publishing
I picked up the “special” Pantera Vulgar Display Of Power issue of Revolver today. I expected the entire magazine to be pretty much dedicated to Pantera and Dimebag. Sadly it wasn’t.
The article on Pantera was great. Short, but great. The entire article talked about writing, recording and touring for the album and it was cool to get everyone’s insight on the record as well as other musicians besides the dudes in Pantera.
The rest of the issue was the usual bullshit that revolver published, with the exception of a couple of pages here and there. I really got sick of the “Bleeding Star clothing” ads on every other page. They must be the new Hot Topic. What was once a fairly decent metal magazine has fallen to trend rock and metal over the last 5 years or more. At least we still have Metal Maniacs…Oh shit, wait. That’s right. Well at least we get the online version anyway. With all the killer metal blogs online these days, there really isn’t a need to wast paper on magazines like Revolver.
